The final step before your cargo sets sail across the ocean is container loading. Even after products pass quality inspection, careless warehouse workers can cause thousands of dollars in damage: dropping heavy cartons onto fragile units, packing wet cartons during monsoon rains, miscounting pallet loads, or installing fake container security seals. Container Loading Supervision (CLS) ensures that the exact quantity ordered is safely packed, locked, and sealed into ocean freight containers.
What Container Loading Supervision Covers
1. Container Condition & Weatherproofing
Before a single box is loaded, the inspector inspects the shipping container:
- Ensuring the container floor is dry, clean, and free of foul odors or chemical residues.
- Conducting an inside-out light test: closing the container doors with the inspector inside to confirm no pinholes or rust punctures exist that would admit seawater during transit.
2. Tally Counting & Barcode Verification
- Counting every single export master carton as it moves across the loading ramp.
- Verifying carton markings, PO numbers, gross weight, and barcode accuracy against the commercial packing list.
3. Proper Weight Distribution & Stacking Logic
- Ensuring heavy cartons stay on the bottom and fragile goods stay on top.
- Checking cargo securing: verifying dunnage bags, ratchet straps, and bracing are installed to prevent load shifting in rough seas.
- Verifying silica gel desiccant placement to prevent "container rain" caused by maritime temperature swings.
4. High-Security Bolt Seal Verification
Once loading completes, the heavy container doors are shut and secured with an ISO 17712 certified bolt seal. The inspector photographs the unique seal serial number in place, ensuring that no unauthorized parties can tamper with the cargo between the factory and the port.
